"Rory Calhoun blasted out reedy Randy Sandy in 2:46 of the 1st round of a telecast bout at St. Nicholas Arena Monday night. Calhoun worked fast in making Sandy his 5th victim of the year His first punch to the head - a flashing right - caught Sandy flush on the jaw and dropped him. He bounced up at two and stood for the mandatory eight-count. Right hand blows to the jaw felled Sandy twice more for a total of three knockdowns in the round. After the third, referee Ray Miller immediately waved his arms, signaling the TKO. Under New York rules, three knockdowns in a round and you're out." -Associated Press
