If this is the Roscoe Taylor mentioned by the December 19, 1908 Tacoma Daily News (Tacoma, WA, USA) newspaper, then his trainer was Kid Candow, and his manager was Jim Carroll. The Tacoma paper reports that THIS Roscoe Taylor started his ring career in 1905. He had started at Jim Carroll's E Street Gym (Portland?). His father had put Roscoe there to stave off sickness. By June 1915 he was living in Unga, Alaska, where he was a commerical fisherman. (See the June 15 TDN.) He returned to the Tacoma area in May 1916 after a three-year absence. (May 6, 1916 TDN.)
