"Ruben Navarro, No. 1 ranked junior lightweight contender, scored a 10 round unanimous decision Thursday night over Ely Yares of Manila at the Olympic. Navarro, Los Angeles, suffered a slight cut above his right eye in the 3rd round but it didn't seem to bother him as he used a right-left combination to floor Yares in the 8th for the bout's only knockdown.
