"Former bantamweight champion Ruben Olivares had to be in superb condition to overcome a knockdown and come back strong to edge Art Hafey in 12 rounds at the Forum. Olivares boxed beautifully to capture a split decision. Hafey, a short, stocky puncher, pressed the action, but couldn't catch up with the elusive Olivares till early in the 10th round. The punch that dropped Ruben was a right hand to the forehead. He was up at eight, but on weak wheels the rest of the round.
