"The 22 year old Ruben Olivares scored a 3rd round knockout over Spain's Jose Arranz in another scheduled 10 round non-title bout. The bantamweight champion floored his Spanish opponent for an eight-count with a left hook midway through the 3rd. Arranz got up but was immediately staggered by a thunderous right to the head and referee George Latka called a halt to the fight at 2:21 of the round." -United Press International
