"Mexico's Ruben Olivares, world's bantamweight champion, knocked out Tsugio Mineyama of Japan at 1:10 of the 3rd round at the downtown bull ring Tuesday night before 8,500 fans. Olivares first dropped his foe for the mandatory eight count with two left hooks to the jaw. He followed with a right to the solar plexus and the Japanese fighter doubled up on the canvas for the final toll." -United Press International
