According to an obituary found in the March 30, 1935 edition of the Omaha World, Harold W. "Sailor" Liston, a "former well known middleweight fighter," died at the age of 28 on "Friday forenoon" in his home, which was located in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He had be suffering from a throat infection for more than a year. Liston was survived by his wife, brother and parents.
