Sam Michael was an American boxing promoter and manager. Michael was the dominant boxing promoter in Lewiston, Maine during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Michael's most well-known promotion was his involvement at the last minute in the May 25, 1965 Muhammad Ali-Sonny Liston rematch in Lewiston. He also managed one of his greatest drawing cards Lefty LaChance. Michael was a pawnshop owner and Lewiston's economic development commissioner.
