- Soliman, 38, wins the most important bout of his career by winning an upset decision over fellow Australian Garth Wood, 33, Boxrec # 20, who had beaten his nemesis Anthony Mundine.
- Soliman positions himself for a shot at the winner of the upcoming IBF World Middleweight title bout between Daniel Geale and Osumanu Adama in Tasmania Australia in March 2012.
- Soliman had lost three times to Anthony Mundine, for the WBA Middleweight title (twice) and the IBF Pan Pacific Middleweight title.
- Eight years later, Soliman finally regains the IBF Pan Pacific belt he held for four bouts in 2003-2004. He also fought Anthony Mundine for this belt in 2001.
