"8,000 boxing fans would like to see a rematch between lightweight champion Sammy Angott and Baby Arizmendi. They battled so ferociously for 10 rounds that a dozen or so belligerent gents in the audience wanted to keep the action going - and did. Referee Jack Kennedy touched off the fisticuffs in the crowd when he called the fight a draw. The general consensus was that the veteran Mexican had won by a decisive margin. He scored a clear knockdown in the 4th round over the NBA champion, several other times staggered him and closed with a rush." -Associated Press
- The police had to intervene to quell the mini-riot.
