Sammy Cohen was once managed by the Marx brothers. In 1949 Cohen unsuccessfully sued Groucho Marx for $100,000 for invasion of privacy. Groucho had said on his television program You Bet Your Life: "I once managed a prize-fighter, Canvasback Cohen. I brought him out here, he got knocked out, and I made him walk back to Cleveland." Cohen admitted that he was once known as "Canvasback," but he wanted to forget about his "sad career" and claimed the broadcast had made him physically and mentally ill.
