"Sammy Goss rallied in the later rounds Monday night to score a unanimous decision over Jose Luis Lopez of Mexico City. Lopez, 130, kept his shorter opponent from Trenton, N.J., off balance in the early going as he shot right and left jabs to his head. Trailing going into the 5th round, Goss, 129, came to life and pounded Lopez with hard lefts and rights in infighting. Goss continued to dominate the fight in the later rounds. There were no knockdowns in the fight." -United Press International
