Scott Wheaton was born on Feb. 13, 1957 and died on Nov. 2, 2001, of a heart attack in Miami, FL. He was a graduate of the University of Miami. His All-American good looks and a 12-0 record (all by knockouts) made him one of boxing's hottest prospects in the mid-1980s. A draw with Mike Perkins, followed by a decision loss to Willie DeWitt, ended Wheaton's career. He was very active in the church and spent countless hours involved in various church activities.
