Sheik Rangel, 149, Fresno, and Rocky Luciano, 152, Harrisburg (Pa.) had it out for the third time at Ryan's Auditorium, Fresno. It was an exciting and hard-fought scrap all the way, but Rangel put to rest all doubts as to who was the best man, winning the ten-round decision handily.
Rangel decked Luciano once and hurt the Italian on numerous occasions. It was the second win for the Sheik, their first encounter ending in a draw. A packed house paid $3,700 to witness this third clash.
