Pro boxing back in Vermont!

Professional boxing returned to "The Green Mountain State" for the first time in nearly seven years as Toe2Toe Boxing and BigBenjy Promotions presented "Heavyweight Havoc" at the Holiday Inn in Rutland, Vermont. In the main event, rotund Orion Sistrunk came out in the first round looking for quick knockout against Gary Wilcox in a heavyweight battle. Unfortunately his stamina wilted quickly and his desire evaporated under the body attack of Wilcox. Sistrunk (4-17, 1 KO) survived the opening stanza but Wilcox had found his rhythm. Wilcox (16-3-1, 3 KOs) used a blinding jab and nice right uppercut to drop Sistrunk in a neutral corner for a TKO stoppage at 1:22 of the second round. In another heavyweight bout, Shelby "Bonetown Brawler" Gross (13-1) knocked Don Dawson (3-2-1) down twice in the first round and dropped him again in the second round causing referee Ron Lipton to stop the action. In a heavyweight bout, John Carlo (13-1) knocked Ronek Ross (4-5) down 3 times in the 1st forcing the ref to stop the fight at 1:51. Also Indian 2000 Olympian Singh Gurcharan (8-0, 4 KOs) scored a TKO stoppage over the grossly overmatched Phil Ford (5-8) at 2:35 of the first round in a heavyweight contest. And featherweight Angel Torres (5-2) knocked out Angelo Smith (2-7) with his first and last punch, a left hook to the temple. The referee immediately waved off the fight and Torres took ten minutes to recover. Referee Ron Lipton was the third man for all of the bouts.
