This was one of the last, if not the last boxing show, where decisions were allowed in Los Angeles. A couple of days earlier, the City of Los Angeles had passed an ordinance regulating boxing: bouts were not to exceed ten rounds in duration, the referee was not allowed in the ring or to render decisions any longer, and the use of any gloves lighter than six ounces was forbidden.
