Pedraza destroys Zayas

Super lightweight Jose ‘Sniper’ Pedraza (12-0, 8 KOs) blitz his way to a first round knockout over Geraldo Zayas 
(21-20-2, 11 KOs). Pedraza put Zayaz on the canvas with an uppercut in the first minute of the fight. Moments 
later Pedraza connected on a left hook to the body and recorded his second knockdown. The referee decided to stop 
the bout when Zayaz got up on slippery legs.
Super lightweight Marcos ‘Tigre’ Jimenez (19-4, 13 KOs) became the WBA Fedecentro lightweight champion when he 
defeated Mario ‘Principe’ Santiago (22-4-1, 14 KOs) by a TKO in the ninth round. Jimenez went after Santiago 
early in round one cornering the Ponce native and landing solid shots. A cut over the right eye of Santiago was 
the result of a head butt in the opening round. Santiago rebounded in the second round landing his straight right 
hand and going downstairs to the body. Early in the third Jimenez staggered Santiago with a right hand only to 
have ‘El Principe’ come back to take the round with his head and body attack. Round four could have gone either 
way as both fighters connected just about evenly. The referee took away a point from Santiago in the fifth for 
hitting low. An exciting sixth round was interfered because of both fighters complaining about illegal blows and 
right about this time Santiago’s eye began to swell up. Santiago smothered Jimenez on the ropes taking round seven 
by administering combinations. ‘Tigre’ had a strong eighth round catching Santiago with crispier punches 
throughout the round. The fight was stopped in the ninth and was awarded to Jimenez when Santiago was unable to 
continue due to his swollen eye.
Miguel Marrero (7-0-1, 4 KO’s) and Edgardo ‘Indio’ Rivera (6-2-1, 5 KOs) battled to a six round draw. The first 
round was a feel out round for both lightweight combatants. Things got heated in rounds two and three with Marrero 
getting the better of the exchanges. Marrero fought behind his jab and utilized his foot movement in the fourth 
round. The left eye of Marrero began to swell up in the fifth round and Rivera took advantage of the situation by 
roughing up Marrero and connecting on the inside. Both fighters poured their heart out in final sixth round going 
toe to toe. The judges scored the 57-57 twice and 58-56 for Marrero.
Reggie Santiago (2-1, 1 KO) recorded his second victory when he defeated Ricardo Perez (0-3) by a third round TKO. 
Perez went down from a bodyshot in the opening round. Santiago once again floored Perez with a bodyshot in the 
second. The referee spared Perez from further punishment after Santiago connected on an overhand right in the round 
three. The scheduled four round bout was fought at the featherweight limit.
Junior bantamweight rookie Edwin ‘Puto’ Rodriguez (3-0- 3 KOs) knocked out Joseph Santos (0-3) with a left hook in 
the second round. Rodriguez also dropped Santos at the end of the first round.
