Boxing back in Fairfield, CA Courtesy Jim Jenkins, Sacramento Bee[1] Professional boxing, after a two-year void, is returning to Fairfield, Calif., with a Friday night nine-bout card at the Allan Witt Sports Center. The show, with Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes’ televising, is backed by the usual trio of promoters who introduced pro boxing to the small Northern California town Don Chargin Productions, Paco Presents and Golden Boy Promotions. In the main event, popular local prospect Mario Avila (15-0) takes on Sergio Frias (15-3-2) of Mexico in a 10-rounder between junior-featherweights. Also featured is an eight-round TV bout between featherweight Guy Robb (13-1) of nearby Sacramento and Ronell Green (10-0) of Wheeling, W. Va., plus an eight-rounder between heavyweights Gerald Williams (13-0), an ex-USC football player from neighboring Vallejo, and Nagy Aguilera (19-8) of New York, who in a supposed 2009 tuneup for Oleg Maskaev took out the ex-WBC champ in one round.
