My Take Away’s
Jose Osario looked great as a boxer who is taking on an MMA fighter should in a boxing match. This was
also the return to action for Ronnie White from a substantial layoff. All that being said Osario looked
very much improved and showed a great killer instinct.
Patrick Holmes Jr. showed that hard work is paying off, looking better and better, every time he enters
the ring. Holmes did a great job of staying technical against wild unorthodox opponent.
Cristian Cabral vs. Shawn Gallegos was easily the Fight of the Night. But in the win Cabral did suffer a
cut over his right eyebrow that could put in jeopardy or postpone his scheduled Chavez Promotions,
November 15th, bout against Josh “Pitbull” Torres at the McKernan Event Center.
One judge scoring the John Herrera vs. Brandon Holmes bout a 57-57 draw is the are you kidding me moment
of the night as a sick Brandon Holmes gutted out an active performance, in which I saw Holmes winning 5
of the 6 rounds clearly.
An emotional Monica Lovato, who dedicated this bout to her recently passed away mother, handled business
in the ring like a 2-time world champion should against a fighter making their pro debut. Nothing but
respect goes out to Kristen Montano, who was out-matched, but came to fight and didn’t quite. In fact
Montano looked visibly upset that her corner threw in the towel, before taking what I would call any
major damage or real big punches.
