This show was held under the auspices of the Hayes Valley Athletic Club, which had recently been incorporated and was anew member of the Pacific Coast Amateur Athletic Association. (Most pro bouts in the area at this time were staged under the guise of amateur licenses. By 1907, only it and the San Francisco Athletic Club, run by Alec Greggains, were the only two clubs that had a gymnasium as required by law. [3])
