Briggs Takes Out Marrone in 2 SecondsOut September 5, 2015 [1] Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, 59-6-1-(52), knocked out Mike Marrone, 21-5-(15) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on Saturday. Briggs decked Marrone at the end of round one and finished him off after 2.52 of the second round with a well placed body shot. Immediately after knocking out Marrone Briggs returned to his favorite subject, calling out IBF/WBA and WBO heavyweight champ, Wladimir Klitschko: “Where’s Klitschko? Let’s go champ! Let’s go champ! Let’s go champ!” Klitschko, who was at the all heavyweight event, reportedly left the arena before Briggs entered the ring. On the undercard Joshua “Too Tuff” Tufte, 19-1-(9), won an eight round split decision over Jamal “Knockout” Woods. The scores 77-75 for Woods and 77-75, 78-74 for Tufte. Briggs-Marrone Undercard Results By Karl Freitag at ringside; FightNews September 5th, 2015 [2] All-heavyweight card from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida: In the co-feature, Joshua “Too Tuff” Tufte (19-1, 9 KOs) won an eight round split decision over Jamal “Knockout” Woods (7-21-3, 7 KOs). Scores were 77-75 Woods. 77-75, 78-74 Tufte. Former heavyweight contender Maurice “Sugar Mo” Harris (26-19-3, 11 KOs) and journeyman Grover Young (12-16-2, 8 KOs) boxed to an eight round draw. The much shorter Young rocked Harris during round five in the most exciting moment of an otherwise uneventful fight. Scores were 77-75 Harris, 77-75 Young, 76-76. Antonio Robertson (4-5-1, 2 KOs) won a four round split decision over Erik “The Viking” Leander (11-3, 8 KOs). Scores 39-37, 39-37 Robertson, 39-37 Leander. Terrance “Big Jim” Marbra (8-3, 6 KOs) won a four round majority decision over 6’9, 300lb Ernest “Zeus” Mazyck (8-2, 3 KOs). Scores were 38-38, 40-36, 39-37. Brandon Spencer (4-11-1, 3 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over Dieuly Aristilde (9-8, 7 KOs) by scores of 38-36 on all cards. Spencer dropped Aristilde twice in round four to pull it out. Unbeaten Edwin “Real Steel” Alvarez (5-0, 4 KOs) scored a first KO over Steve Teagle (1-1, 1 KO). A right to the body ended it at 1:40. Alvarez looks like one to watch. Quadtrine Hill (5-2, 2 KOs) scored a third round TKO over Quincey Palmer (9-7, 9 KOs). The fight was waved off at :51 with Palmer taking heavy shots.
