Sid Terris 132 lbs beat Stanislaus Loayza 134 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1927-05-13
  • Location: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York, USA
  • Referee: Eddie Forbes

"Sid Terris, 132 1/2, NY lightweight contender, outclassed Stanislaus Loayza, 133 1/2, of Chile, in everything but gameness tonight to win the referee's verdict in a strenuous 10-round feature at MSG. For the first eight rounds, Terris spun about the ring in dazzling fashion, stinging the South American with every brand of punch in his fistic repertoire. The dogged little Chilean followed him tirelessly, taking it all and trying always to land a smashing right that usually whistled harmlessly over Terris' shoulders. In the last two rounds, Loayza caught up with the flying New Yorker, pinning him to the ropes with wild rushes that ended in fierce body exchanges, but the heavy punishment had taxe his strength and he was never able to endanger Terris' wide margin." -Associated Press
