The following December, Escobar fractured an ankle when he was struck by an automobile. He had to cancel a scheduled Dec. 20 bout in Montreal with the winner of the Lou Salica-Baby Quintana contest, and was out for months recuperating. Dec. 5 Los Angeles Times.
