Loughran got off to a slow start and suffered a cut on the right cheek in the 1st round, which would grow during the fight, until Loughran's face was a bloody mask at the end of the bout. Loughran would recover, to outbox Walker in the 3rd and 4th round. Walker came back to win the 5th and 6th, the latter significantly. Loughran came back to win the 7th, landing a left hook to Walker's jaw. Walker fouled Loughran in the 8th round, with a low blow. Loughran took a three minute rest to recover. Walker knocked Loughran down in the 9th, for no count, with a left-right combo. Loughran rallied desperately in the 10th round, landing three solid right hands.
