Spider Webb 159 lbs beat Bobby Boyd 159 lbs by TKO at 2:40 in round 6 of 10
- Date: 1954-03-17
- Location: Chicago Stadium, Chicago, Illinois, USA
- Referee: Bill Doty
"Spider Webb, an unorthodox middleweight, swarmed all over Bobby Boyd last night to win a 6th round TKO in the semi-windup of the Harold Johnson-Paul Andrews televised fight. Webb, who won his 12th pro fight against one loss, floored the more experienced Boyd in the 2nd round with a looping right hand. In the 6th, just after Boyd landed a series of lefts and rights, Webb lashed out with a two-fisted attack that draped Boyd over the ring ropes and left him stunned. Boyd recovered by the time referee Bill Doty reached "9" but seemed unable to go on and doty stopped the bout at 2:40 of the round." -United Press
