"Spider Webb, 158, slick Chicago middleweight, racked up his 18th straight victory tonight by decisively outpointing rugged Neal Rivers, 157, of Las Vegas in a televised 10-rounder at MSG. Webb's impressive performance indicated he was ready for anyone in the division including champion Gene Fullmer. The Spider had no setup, however, for his Garden debut, as Rivers was the 8th ranking contender. Rivers had won 16 of his last 17 and knows his way around the ring. But the transplanted Westerner was simply outclassed in the 10-rounder by Webb, a boxer-puncher who showed everything." -Associated Press
