"Although he was floored in the 5th round for the first time in his career, Hawaii's Stan Harrington came on strong and gained a split decision over favored Charley Scott of Philadelphia in a television 10 rounder at MSG Saturday night. Harrington swept the first three rounds handily with sharp left hooks and solid rights to the head. But Scott opened up with a series of left hooks to the head and body that hurt Harrington. Another left hook sent Harrington to the canvas face down. He barely beat referee Barney Felix's count as he staggered up at nine. Then, Harrington tore after Scott and battered him in the last 15 seconds. After that it was a bruising no let-up battle the rest of the way." -Associated Press
