• In 2006 he fought in the golden gloves nationals semi-finals to 2008 Olympian Luiz Yanez.
• In 2008 he defeated the Olympic Alternate Malcolm Franklin in the USA Nationals.
• In 2010 Stephon Young represented the USA vs. Great Britain dual he was 1 of few fighters who won in that dual.
• In 2011 Stephon Young had 4 fights in the National Golden Gloves. In the Semi Finals he defeated the number 2 rank fighter Shawn Simpson. In the finals he lost to the number 1 rank Louie Byrd. He went on to the Olympic trials and lost to the number 1 rank Raushee Warren who is a 2 time Olympian.
