The New York Times, November 8, 1964
Sugar Ray Robinson won a clear decision tonight over JeanBaptiste Rolland, the former French welterweight champion.
Robinson weighed 162 pounds and Rolland 157½ for the 10round bout before 5,000 fans at the Exhibition Hall.
Sugar Ray set the pace and floored Rolland for the count of 9 a minute before the end of the fight. The American was in trouble only in the eighth round, as he started to tire. Rolland bored in, scoring with straight lefts, his best punch.
