"Ray Seales of Tacoma trapped Sammy NeSmith against the ropes and scored a knockout Tuesday night to retain his USBA middleweight championship. Action was slow in the first two rounds before Seales connected early with a left in the 3rd round of the scheduled 15 round bout. His Indianapolis opponent came back with an overhand right to the head that opened a slight cut over Seales' left eye. In the 5th round, Seales said NeSmith was 'taking some good right shots, and I could tell he was going down when I caught him against the ropes when he was exhaling.'" -Associated Press
