Susana Morales beat Pamela Barker by UD in round 6 of 6

  • Date: 1998-04-04
  • Location: San Salvador, El Salvador
  • On her Web site, http://www.pamelabarker.com/bio.htm , Barker says the Morales fight was an exhibition. She does not count it on her record, which she lists at 5-0-1.

The site said this about what was to be her first fight, prior to the Morales bout:

"Pamela's first taste of "Professional Boxing" was not the flavor she had expected. Universum Box Promotion brought her to Germany to fight WIBF flyweight champion Regina Halmich in Cologne on March 7, 1998. This in itself, she thought was a big step for her. Upon arriving in Germany she was met at the airport with welcome arms and directly whisked off to the press conference to meet with Regina, the promoters and do an interview with the local Media. Pamela was asked questions, by the media, regarding her fight record. The media had been provided, by unknown persons, with information about Pamela's fight record (names and dates were on it) (and an 11-1 kickboxing record). When Pamela said "No, this is my pro debut," the German fight authorities went into a huddle. When they came out of their huddle, they said they would not allow a debut fighter to fight Halmich, so Britain's Lisa Houghton was rushed in as Halmich's opponent. Pamela's warm welcome she received was now over. She was treated so bad it was enough to make her cry. She was in a foreign country, they spoke very little English, had no friends to help and now was facing threats from the promoter to take her return air fare ticket away if she continued to request her money for the food for her stay."
