Talk:Bobby Quarry
I was a sparring partner for Bobby Quarry and Lionel Washington, two Bakersfield, California Heavyweights in the mid to late 1980's. Bobby was a descent puncher but he was not heavyweight material, standing maybe 6' and weighing with cement shoes a meager 200 pounds. Bobby would have been better served as a Light Heavyweight and if disciplined a class lower. He had a difficult time choosing friends and spent a lot of the prime years doing 6 months here and 8 months there in county jail. Bobby also needed to get out of town and train with brother Mike who would have got Bobby at the correct weight and some better fights, instead of with fighters like Tommy Morrison. Bobby was punch drunk before age 28 and was still trying to fight. Bobby probably suffered some terrible brain damage from the brutal knockout Morrison handed him in Los Angeles. User:Klegg
