Talk:BoxRec's Annual Ratings: Flyweight--1920s
How do you factor in someone like Pete Sanstol, who is rated purely as a bantamweight, but during 1926-28, and likely 1929, would have fought primarily as a flyweight? Do you consider whether weights are recorded for, say, a boxer's fights in 1928 to see whether he was a fly or bantam, then rate him accordingly? --Ric 00:18, 24 Feb 2006 (CST)
I see that if Sanstol was rated as a fly in 1928, with 1444 points he would be the #3 in the World at the time (and #4 in 1929). Just one example from perhaps other boxers who may have fought at lighter weights early in their careers. --Ric 01:09, 24 Feb 2006 (CST)
The minimum rating to enter the annual ratings is 1.200. Sanstol didn't get it in 1926.
The assignment to a weight division is done by tracking the weight division assignment of the bout in chronological sequence. The weights are not evaluated. The last assignment is the year's end assignment for the annual ratings.
The Sanstols last bout assigned to flyweight was on 1927-07-09. So his annuals rating for 1927 and following is in bantamweight.
