Talk:Davey Moore vs. Roberto Duran

Another fight re-aired by the Versus network on their Legends of the Ring program. Kudos to them for dusting off this classic. Sadly the audio commentary which accompanied the bout on this broadcast was provided by Jake and Vikki LaMotta, who were still riding the crest of the Raging Bull film starring Robert DiNiro and Cathy Moriarity. While Jake was a great middleweight and Vikki was a pretty woman, (even in 1983), neither were even remotely good as ring commentators.

More to the topic, this fight revealed Duran at his most viscious. He appeared to attempt to complete a checklist of fouls against Moore, thumbing, head-butting, hitting low, attempting again and again to inflict damage. Duran later was quoted as saying that he truly wanted to kill Moore, and was upset with the referee for stopping the bout before he could.
