It appeared that Erik Morales was able to out box the crude and rough David Diaz, winning the majority of the rounds, despite seeming to be running out of gas. David Diaz resorted to using rough tactics, including elbows, fore arms and a rush and push style to try to steal rounds. Diaz had a badly swollen eye due to the superior boxing skills of Erik Morales.
