Per Luckett Davis: The published first year of Charles's professional record (1940) is evidently inaccurate. Corrections to be made are listed below:
Deleted: 6/24/40, Bradley Lewis, San Francisco, KO-3. A check of a San Francisco newspaper shows that this fight did not occur on this date. However, Charles and Lewis actually fought exactly one year earlier in San Francisco as amateurs. --Ric 00:25, 30 Jul 2005 (CDT)
The Negro almanac [1] by Harry A. Ploski and Roscoe Conkling Brown in 1967 has Charles winning the Diamond Belt in the welterweight division in 1937 and 1938. --Bert
According to Cincinnati Enquirer Feb. 14. 1946, Ezz said he had eight fights in the Army and won 'em all. They were spread out over 29 months. That leaves six missing fights from his current record.

Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph Mar 18, 1946 mentions: "Charles who twice defeated Charley Burley and also holds victories over Joey Maxim, Jose Basora and Booker Beckwith, won the Army light-heavyweight title by stopping Bobby Berry (ID# 171280) of Cleveland. "
Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, dated December 3, 1944 mentioning: Bobby Berry winning the middleweight title in Algiers. He was beaten in the eliminators (for the Second Inter-Allied Championships in Rome) by Ezzard Charles, one of America's best light-heavyweight professionals. Berry arrived in Rome as the team coach.
