SOLVE THIS, PLEASE: There are frequent reports in The Ring during 1947 that Gene Smith of Miami actually was Bob Timpson of Youngstown,Ohio. Problem is, Timpson usually fought at 135-138 Ibs while Smith of Miami was around 149-151. At one instance,4th of Sept.1946 a Gene Smith of Miami and Bob Timpson fought separate fights on the same card in Youngstown,Ohio. Why did this Smith-Timpson story emerge and persist in many issues of The Ring? Please mail [email protected]
