Talk:Jimmy Flood
This was taken from an article written mourning the loss of Paddy Flood who died in 1983 at the age of 48 years. For one short time back in 1953 and a bit in 1954, he was afighter. He was 13-1. Paddy was the brother of Jimmy Flood who was a top middleweight contender of the 50's, and was the headliner of the family.
Source for the above was a newspaper report on Paddy Flood's death in 1983, The article was on page 72 of the New York Post written by Jerry Lisker and another article by Dick Young.
I'm Marty Dougherty, the unoffical historian of sorts for Yorkville. I just want to give a little credit where credit is due. I recall from converasations from years ago that my brother Paddy Dougherty was involved in boxing with PAL (Police Athletic League) and was with one from the Flood family. I know he did a little boxing with PAL but that was as far as it went. The Flood family was more involved and had a wider influence in boxing as you can see from the quote from Jerry Lisker's article about Jimmy Flood's record as a contender. I'll see if I can come up with more on Jimmy's career.
