James "Jimmy" Hanna was born in Pocatello, Bannock,Idaho, January 1, 1907 to George and Sadie Hanna originally from Beirut, Lebanon. He also had an older brother, John Hanna, who was also a boxer.
Jimmy Hanna married Vivian Burns, January 9, 1934 in Logan, Utah. I have no information about children.
His first recorded boxing match was January 17, 1923 in Rexburg, USA against Kid Hickman. Jimmy "Hannah" won the match. Jimmy was in the Light Heavyweight division. His alias name was "Hannah".
Jimmy boxed from 1923 through 1934 when he lost his last match to boxer, Hal Hoxwood on May 4, 1934 in Pocatello, Idaho.
In between these boxing matches he was the Light Weight Champion of the Pacific Coast. He won the Western State title in Devner, and was listed among the top ten fighters nationally.
Jimmy Hanna retired in 1934.
Jimmy operated a gymnasium from about 1943 until 1949 when he went blind.
I have no information about his life between 1949 through 1972.
James "Jimmy" Hanna died on October 28, 1972 at the age of 64 and was buried in Mount Moriah Cenetery in Idaho. He was survived by his wife, Vivian, his brother John Hanna, and several nieces and nephews.
