Shouldn't Max Baer also be listed as Jewish then, since he like Lomski also had Jewish ethnic roots from his father's side, not the traditional maternal side?

Matt that is very likely--certaintly people from my parents generation thought of the Baer brothers as Jewish fighters. Both Max and Buddy fought with Stars of David on their trunks and whether this was heartfelt or publicity I think is moot. They certaintly lifted community spirits with Nazism on the rise. But, Lomski I think is a little bit different, because Lomski described himself as growing up with his brother and being the only Jewish kids in Aberdeen--there are a number of published interviews with Lomski where he decribes himself as Jewish, this seems pretty definitive to me. 275 bout claim

That is an impossible number, I'm going to delete it.--Matt Tegen 13:18, 27 Jan 2006 (CST)

Matt, the NYT reported that figure. Why delete it altogether? Instead, I suggest that it remain but be edited to something like: "The NYT obituary of X date mentioned that Lomski had some 275 career bouts, which seems an unlikely number." --Ric 13:40, 27 Jan 2006 (CST)

Reported 7/4/22 Debut

I wonder if that supposed debut July 4, 1922 in Grandview, WA (as reported in the 1925 SDT) actually occurred in Grangeview, Idaho? --Ric 19:46, 27 Jan 2006 (CST)

I can't find a Grangeview, Idaho on a map using Mapquest or Google maps. There is a Grandview, Idaho, though it is close to Boise, not in the panhandle. Weeks is also from the Yakima Valley, which Grandview is part of. I think I checked both Yakima papers and a weekly Toppenish paper while reasearching at Central Washington University. This is probably one that will never be verified, since it was probably just part of 4th of July entertainment in a little town like Grandview, which got no notice.--Matt Tegen 10:55, 9 Jun 2006 (CDT)
