"Lee Oma strolled leisurely about Tami Mauriello last night at MSG and left-jabbed him bloody. Oma, from Detroit, won the unanimous 10-round decision with such comparative ease that it amazed the fans, who recalled that Mauriello had knocked out Lee in the 8th round of their first encounter. Oma was in excellent condition, probably for the first time in his career. He took immediate command of the bout and seemed headed for a KO victory until he bruised his right hand badly late in the 2nd round. This injury caused Oma to lose control in the 3rd round, when Mauriello gave him a bad battering on the ropes. But Lee concentrated on the left jab thereafter and made a gory mess of his opponent, bringing blood from his left brow, his right cheek, his nose and his mouth, while knocking out two of his teeth. Oma suffered a slight gash on his left cheek in the 4th. There were no knockdowns." -United Press
