"Teddy 'Red Top' Davis, of Hartford, Conn., won a unanimous 10 round decision over George Araujo, of Providence, R.I. While an estimated 3,000, paying $7,000, booed and howled, referee Ruby Goldstein kept telling the fighters, "Come on, you're lousing up the Garden." Davis always was moving in while Araujo was running away. The so-called New England lightweight title, held by Davis, was at stake. Davis said he felt awful about the warnings but tried to get close enough to make a fight of it." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 6-3-1 Davis
- Araujo was penalized the 6th round for a low blow.
