"Thad Spencer, from Portland, Ore., scored a TKO over Jack Bodell Monday night when the Briton retired at the end of the 2nd round of a scheduled 10 rounder. Referee Billy Jones halted the fight after being called to Bodell's corner after the 2nd round ended. Bodell had an inch-long cut under his right eyebrow. Spencer, 197, peppered the Britisher with left hooks to the chin at the outset. Bodell, 197 3/4, surprised Spencer with a body attack, but could not stop the American from scoring repeatedly with left hooks." -United Press International
