In the Victorian Fight of the Year - Casey built up an early lead, almost unanimously winning the first six rounds. However Bell battled, walked forward and hurt Casey several times over the twelve rounds of all-out, non-stop action, but was ultimately outpointed in the end. Casey survived a late scare and an eleventh round knockdown to score a split decision win and pick up the PABA light-heavyweight title.
Additional Notes
- Despite it only being a PABA title defence, Bell also lost his WBO Oriental light-heavyweight title in the process
- Bell was riding a 7-fight unbeaten streak stretching back to December 2006
- Casey was coming off two defeats in his last three fights
