In a bout between 1996 Olympian Ibragimov and 2000 Olympian Guru Singh held at the Hard Rock Casino in Florida, Timor Ibragimov won his eighth consecutive bout and the vacant WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title with a stoppage late in the tenth round over a game 20-0 Gurcharan Singh. The first eight rounds were nothing to speak of, noteworthy mostly for repeated holding and the lack of punches thrown. Both fighters landed some head shots in the second round, and some jab combinations in the sixth round, but in both cases, neither fighter was able to follow up and press an advantage after they connected. The bout broke open in the ninth round when Ibragimov landed several straight rights to the head of Singh and dropped him for a knockdown. Singh beat the count and somehow fought his way out of the round and survived. In the tenth and final round, Ibragimov dropped Singh with a right to the head. Singh beat the count again, but numerous jabs and rights to the head by Ibragimov on a tiring defenseless Singh finally forced an end to the contest at 1:45.
