A Number of Baltimore Sparrers in the Ring for Pugilistic Honors.

More than one emulator of the m'ghty Peter Jackson is sorer and wiser today than he was last night. The pugilists learned their lesson at Kernan's Monumental Theatre, where a traveling company known as the Pastime Athletic Club, conducted the preliminary bouts of a sparring tournament. The contests are for the colored championship of Maryland, and medals are the prizes. During the time the show lasted there was as much slugging as possible. The spectators enjoyed the sport if their applause and laughter were any indication of approval. Tonight the winners in the different classes will meet and should furnish great sport. The contests were four rounds each, Marquess of Queensberry rules, and resulted as follows:
