Tom Bogs beat Heinrich Freytag by PTS in round 8 of 8

  • Date: 1966-03-03
  • Location: K.B. Hallen, Copenhagen, Denmark
  • German middleweight veteran Heinz Freytag ( 17-13-3 ) did all he could this Thursday to knock out undefeated hope Tom Bogs ( 15-0-0 ) of Denmark. Bogs kept himself away from the wild swinging of Freytag, pricking the German's face with left jabs. At one point Freytag placed himself in the middle of the ring, covered his face and stood absolutely still, waiting for Bogs. The Dane felt no obligation to attack, and the referee signalled Freytag to move his feets. The tempo was high and the fight not without excitement. The newspaper Berlingske Tidende felt that if Freytag really had landed one of his well-signalled power punches, Bogs would have been knocked out of the KB-Hall and ended up in one of the streets nearby. Bogs was never in danger though and won all the eight rounds.
