Tom S. Andrews
Thomas S. Andrews was the Sports Editor for Milwaukee's Evening Wisconsin newspaper (circa 1909). He also wrote boxing articles that would be published in other papers nationwide [1], [2]. He was also a powerful promoter in Milwaukee.
He became the first matchmaker for the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles in 1925.
Andrews was widely known for his World’s Sporting Annual and Ring Battles of Centuries sports record books.
The Tacoma Daily News (Tacoma, WA, USA) reported that a Tom Andrews, Milwaukee promoter, had fallen on a sidewalk in Sydney, Australia, and died from his injuries (Dec. 8, 1919). But this was probably a different Tom Andrews, or an erroneous report, given that Andrews was working at the Olympic Auditorium years later. T. S. Andrews died in Milwaukee, aged 72, on Dec. 1, 1941, per The New York Times.
Andrews was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992.
