It was a hard-fought affair. "Jackson swarmed all over Henry from the start, and the Californian seemed bewildered at times." Henry was in trouble in the third round and again in the eighth, but staged a strong finish. (The Ring, May 1954, page 45)
Clarence Henry retired after this bout due to health concerns.

- Eastern Parkway Arena matchmaker Teddy Brenner began negotiating for an April 5th card at the Arena for Jackson to meet either Nino Valdes, Jimmy Slade or Dan Bucceroni. The card eventually took place on March 29th between Jackson and Bucceroni.
