Tommy Jackson 192 lbs beat Dan Bucceroni 192 lbs by TKO at 1:58 in round 6 of 10

"A national unknown until two months ago, Tommy (Hurricane) Jackson today sought a shot at heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano and dared any leading contender to fight him. The tireless, non-stop puncher from New York became an outstanding challenger Monday night by stopping dangerous Dan Bucceroni, 3rd-ranked heavyweight contender, at 1:58 of the 6th round at Eastern Parkway Arena. Referee Al Berl halted the massacre as the lanky, 2-1 favored Philadelphian reeled around the ring with his right eye almost shut and with blood oozing from a cut over it. Bucceroni, 192, never fell but he was close to exhaustion. Bucceroni punched himself out against the 191 1/2 pound Jackson who kept coming without regard for Dan's vaunted Sunday punch. Jackson roared back after every one of Dan's volleys, throwing every punch from every angle." -Associated Press

  • The AP stated that Bucceroni took this fight, risking an almost certain September title shot against Rocky Marciano, for a $10,000 guarantee.
